For the Project Reflection Assignment at WSU, I’ve decided to take another stab at creating a logo for Instagram (instagram.com/the_pro_dad). Utilizing Adobe Illustrator, I have attempted a new logo after failed revisions of the original. The goal of the new logo was to only use vector items and the text available in Adobe Illustrator.
The original font (KIONA) was a little small on the screen, so I change the font to Futura. The image of the father and daughter located within the “o” of the original .jpg was a non-vector image. To correct this, I deleted the layer object and downloaded new vector objects from pixabay.com.
I wanted to combine the concepts of fatherhood and childcare in this logo, so I found a vector image of a man with a beard wearing sunglasses on Pixabay (https://pixabay.com/vectors/beard-facial-hair-sunglasses-man-1781443/). Since I too am a man who usually rocks a beard and wears sunglasses I figured this vector image was appropriate. To emphasize childcare, I found a vector image of a baby stroller on Pixabay (https://pixabay.com/vectors/stroller-pram-child-child-care-1961742/). Since I am a father of a little girl and have another baby girl on the way, I figured the vector image of a baby stroller was also appropriate. The object was re-sized and placed inside the sunglasses.
After selecting the vector images, I had a little fun in Adobe Illustrator duplicating and placing the vector images and adjusting the three layers of text. To ensure that the font stood out I adjusted the opacity of each vector image. The logo is now clean and straightforward utilizing only vector images and Adobe font.
