Logo Project – Draft
This logo was created to accompany The_Pro_Dad Instagram (instagram.com/the_pro_dad). The idea was to create a logo that could be easily transposed to other designs to accompany a blog, Pinterest, etc. The focus image is of myself and my daughter with the font “The Pro Dad” which is the name of the Instagram. The goal of this logo was to utilize techniques such as the blending tool, install new fonts, and inform the viewer of the available Instagram.
To begin, I created a new .ai document 800*800 pixels. Instead of recreating an Instagram “follow us” image, I was able to locate a commercial-free image available at Pixabay (https://pixabay.com/en/follow-social-networks-vector-color-826033/). This image inspired me to create a grayscale logo to accompany the follow us icon. To accompany the grayscale logo I placed a gray background utilizing the rectangle tool. Once the background was placed, I visited dafont.com to download a new font for the logo. After reviewing several fonts, I downloaded and install ed“Kiona” (https://www.dafont.com/kiona-2.font) on my MacBook Pro.
After placing and coloring two layers of “Kiona” font, I created a blend of the two objects. In my mind, this gives the piece an old school vibe. To provide continuity between the logo and the real Instagram, I placed the Apple Emojis above the “Follow Us” icon. When the viewer of the logo visits my Instagram, they will be presented with the same Apple Emojis (see image right).
The focus of the logo was created utilizing Adobe Photoshop and cropping the image of the dad and daughter (see below). I then used the magic wand tool via photoshop and the paintbrush tool to color the image white. The white image was then copied and pasted into the .ai logo as the center image. The above .jpg is the first draft of a new logo, and I hope to make several changes.
