COM 564: Research Methods For Professional
Spring 2019 • 3 Credits • The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication
COM564 examines research design, questionnaire construction, sampling, data collection techniques, variable measurement, and related topics. The goal of COM564 is to become acquainted with qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand how the organization utilizes research in media to make impactful decisions.
This course required critical thinking, an appreciation for research, and an understanding of the benefits of research as it pertains to decision-making processes. Advantages and disadvantages of different research methods are analyzed based on a positivist approach with critique from peers and instructors throughout the course. COM564 is an opportunity to apply knowledge from real-life situations, practice self-analysis, think analytically, and synthesize knowledge.
